DRUG AND ALCOHOL SPECIALIST WORKER

Purpose of Position

Provides drug and alcohol services for Mudgee and surrounding communities, with outreach services as required. It will also provide support to the Opioid Treatment Program, Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment (MERIT) Program, Cannabis Clinic and Drug and Alcohol Helpline as required.

Classification of this position will be dependent on qualilfications.

Selection Criteria
1) Must hold a bachelor degree suitable for employment as a Social Worker, Counsellor or Welfare Officer and eligibility for membership of an Australian Professional Association relevant to the discipline; OR Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) Djirruwang Program; OR current authority to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Registered Nurse. 2) Demonstrated clinical experience in the provision of drug & alcohol services, or an understanding of the key concepts, including harm minimisation. 3) Understanding of psychosocial interventions relating to drug and alcohol, and their application. 4) Understanding of case management and case review practices applicable to the treatment of drug and alcohol issues. 5) Demonstrated effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, with ability to liaise and network with a range of services and health related agencies. 6) Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and the ability to function in a professional manner without direct daily supervision. 7) Demonstrated ability to work in a computerised environment, and knowledge of electronic information systems. 8) Current Licence to drive in NSW and a willingness and ability to travel when the role requires, with overnight stays as required.
