• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in food handling and preparation in a café offering ‘short order meals’.
• The ability to work under pressure during peak service periods, and enjoy working in a team environment.
• The desire to showcase their customer service skills to a diversity of visitors.

The Office of Environment and Heritage leads policy and reform in environment regulation, sustainability, biodiversity and native vegetation, coastal protection and Aboriginal cultural heritage. We manage 6.8 million hectares of national parks and reserves and the Heritage branch within OEH works with communities to identify important places and objects and provides guidance in looking after heritage items.

National Parks and Wildlife Service manages, conserves and cares for land in national parks and reserves. NPWS links customer, conservation and cultural outcomes in a sustainable way by building participation in the management and use of parks.

Customer Experience Division is focused on delivering a seamless experience for our customers, whether they choose to phone, write an email, visit our websites or engage through social media.
We are responsible for meeting customer-oriented targets across all our channels, and for implementing a strategy to overhaul and improve the ways we engage with our customers.

Primary purpose of the role:
The role assists in the day to day operations of the Cafe ensuring food preparation and customer service is of a consistently high standard in-line with NSW Government Safe Food Handling Practice Guidelines. The position is part of a retail team responsible for the profitable viability of this retail outlet ensuring the ongoing operation of the business.

The role holder must be willing to work weekends, public holidays and school holidays. This is a shift-based role, under the Crown Employees(Conditions of Employment) Public Service Award.

Job Notes:

•Current Australian Driver's licence
•Experience in cash handling including register operation and end of day revenue reconciliation
•Knowledge of health and food safety requirements, kitchen hygiene, and Work Health & Safety (WHS) policies
•The NPWS is a non-smoking workplace and smoking is not permitted in national parks.
•The role will complement the existing casual employee pool and will predominately work (minimum 3 hour shifts) on weekend days, public holidays and school holidays. The likelihood of shifts being offered during mid-week days outside of holiday periods will be limited.

A Recruitment Pool may be established for future casual roles with similar focus capabilities. The Recruitment Pool may be available to hiring managers from OEH and other NSW Public Sector agencies over a 12 month period.
