Shellharbour City Council is looking for an enthusiastic person who is interested in undertaking an apprenticeship over four years, within our Parks & Gardens area. The apprenticeship will cover both theoretical and practical requirements in a combination of on the job and off the job training.
Minimum School Certificate / Record of School Achievement (ROSA) or equivalent with good academic results (by the end of 2016)
Applicants must also be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in parks and gardens through previous work experience or interests
A commitment to undertake and complete a four-year apprenticeship
Highly motivated and willing to learn
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively to the public, co-workers and management
Physically capable of performing repetitive tasks
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
As an Apprentice Gardener, you will be required to complete the Certificate lll in Horticulture (Parks & Gardens) Course at Yallah TAFE.
Conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Local Government State Award, relevant Legislation and Council's Policies, Procedures, Codes of Practise and Agreement, as varied from time to time.
Commencing salary ranges from $475.50 per week for a 16 year old to $654.00 per week for someone over the age of 18.
Compulsory course costs will be met by Council.
Employment will be for the duration of the apprenticeship only.
