An APS6 Relationship Officer is accountable under limited direction for undertaking complex work and delivering results in accordance with the requirements of their work area and team plans, with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability. They will have an extensive understanding of the requirements of the position, as well as the legislative, regulatory and relationship management frameworks that underpin its activities. They will provide detailed technical, operational, professional, policy and procedural advice in relation to complex problems.
The APS6 Relationship Officer may be a team coach or lead a small operational team and is expected to be capable of reviewing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work group. They are accountable for organising their own workflow, and for making decisions in relation to their work area and team plans.
The APS6 Relationship Officer will be accountable to engage with a range of stakeholders in a representational role on complex, difficult or sensitive issues. They will be required to build and maintain effective relationships, produce professional advice and engage in complex problem solving and issues management.
This position’s occupant will work in the Parliamentary Services team within the Public Affairs branch of the ATO Corporate business line. They may be required to conduct investigations, undertake specialist or technical research and analysis activities, or provide professional advice within an area of specialisation based on policy and legislation.
The APS6 Relationship Officer will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the requirements of the position, as well as the legislative, regulatory and compliance frameworks that underpin its activities. They are accountable for organising their own workflow and for making independent decisions relating to their work area and team plans.
The APS6 Relationship Officer will translate complex topics into something the community will understand. They will undertake detailed and sometimes complex, sensitive operational and administrative work arising in the Parliamentary Services team.
They will demonstrate attention to detail and have a good have an understanding of parliamentary processes, the parliamentary and workflow. They will provide guidance and advice in relation to parliamentary work, to Members of Parliament and ATO staff at various levels.
